What are some different types of burns?

On Behalf of | Aug 5, 2022 | Personal Injury |

After a serious accident, you may begin to notice a variety of burns on your limbs or anywhere else on your body. You could even struggle to relax in bed while going to sleep or feel constant pain while going about your daily life.

Knowing what kinds of burns there are and how they affect you may help you after a personal injury.

Chemical burns

According to the Mayo Clinic, if someone spills dangerous liquids on you or a piece of work equipment malfunctions, you could suffer from harsh chemical-related burns. These burns may leave you with skin and nerve damage beyond the redness of your skin.

Intense irritation at the site of the place where the liquid touched you can cause blisters.

Heat and fire burns

If a car crash happens, the explosions around or in the vehicle can leave you with serious fire burns. Noticing an increase in oozing from the wound and a leathery appearance of the skin after the initial incident may be a sign that these burns are more serious than you think.

When these flames are on your skin for a continual period of time, you may suffer from third-degree burns. These burns are far deeper and more harmful than first-degree burns and often harm your body beyond the epidermis layer of skin.

Wires and electric burns

When you touch an exposed wire, the resulting injury can leave you with electrical burns on your hands, legs or other body parts. These burns could leave scars and take a long time to heal.

Knowing about how burns happen and what types there are can help you if you are in an accident.
